Fun Facts
When I was nine, I met and took a photograph with Nobel Prize winner, Francis Crick after he gave a presentation on how he helped discover DNA! Aside from school and lab, I love taking yoga classes and hope one day to master inversions. My favorite colors are pink and green or anything with Hello Kitty (I even have Hello Kitty sunglasses).
About Me
I am in the process of taking the final requirements so I can apply to PhD programs in plant biology. I worked with renowned historians including Dr. Koenker and the first endowed chair of Brazilian History, Dr. Davila. I earned a Master's Degree in History (with an emphasis on Public Health in Latin American and Russia) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Chmpaign. I hope to attend either UCLA or UCD for my PhD. My ultimate goal is to share my love of science as a professor.
Experience
When I was in college I tutored elementary school children in a poverty stricken area. When I finished college and entered into graduate school, I gave presentations and planned classes. Upon going back to school I realized I miss working with students and making a difference in the lives of my students!
Approach
I believe that learning should be fun even if it is challenging. My favorite teachers have been those whose passion for teaching and comes through making even the difficult topics fun and interesting. As a tutor, I hope to bring the subjects alive and encourage my students to want to learn. Not only do I teach them content, but I also have extensive knowledge of study skills to help students become better students all around.

MastersAlgebra Tutoring
I wanted to refresh my algebra skills so I took a college algebra course and earned an A. My favorite math teacher taught me algebra and all sorts of amazing tricks for understanding problems.
AP History Tutoring
I earned an MA from one of the most prestigious history programs in the country. When I was an undergraduate, I had a 3.97 in history (I got one A-). I absolutely love helping students analyze sources and learn how to provide 5 quality answers to the DBQs (Document Based Questions). I earned a 5 in AP United States History.
Biology Tutoring
I am currently working on meeting the requirements to apply to PhD programs in biology. I love science. I have presented a poster at the American Society for Plant Biologists which attracts attendees from around the world to present their scientific research and learn about the state of the field from experts.
English Tutoring
As a graduate student in history, I honed my writing skills. My English literature professor saw potential and after earning an A in her class, she asked me to take an Honors Poetry class. I have proofread papers and tutored students in English grammar as well as writing.
Religion Tutoring
While I attended Catholic high school, I took world religions (the only religion course that gave UC high school credit and earned an A), When I was an undergraduate I took a Buddhism course and earned an A.

I earned a Master's Degree in History from one of the best programs in the country. When I was in college, I was awarded best upper division student two years in a row. I only received one A- in my major. I am confident that I can help any history student to a high level.
