Fun Facts
Apart from my passion of writing, I enjoy taking in a movie in down time that I have the chance to enjoy. As well, I enjoy watching stage plays and dance productions. A couple of my favorites are: Alvin Ailey, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, and Grease. In quiet time, I enjoy time with family and friends. I love to cook when I have time, and my favorites are southern cuisine and Italian.
About Me
I am an Independent Community Advocate and work with people in and around the Chicago Metropolitan area in sustaining health and wellness. My background is in Psychology and Business. I earned my undergraduate degree from DePaul University where I majored in Psychology and Business (Honors). As well, I earned my Master of Arts in Psychology degree with Honors from National Louis University. Each of these programs were writing intensive and lend a hand that supports my writing interest.
Experience
My work has allowed me to work with a diverse range of people, personalities and backgrounds. The work that I have done in mentoring students has allowed me to find a balance that helps me support students in the way that best fits them. It is for this reason that in tutoring, my goal is to meet students where they are, build on their strengths and improve upon weakness in a way that best supports the student(s) to aid in learning with the goal of noticeable growth.

I have enjoyed developing understanding to the joy learning the English language can provide. From starting in college, English, like writing, has been an area I excelled at. Through continued effort in practicing and refining my craft, my desire continues in helping others in their development as well.
Psychology Tutoring
In developing an understanding to elements that can impact the human condition through applied and theoretical experience, in general, to me, Psychology as a discipline offers a way to help explain the underlying factors to different behaviors/ conditions, while also explaining its theories, forms and concepts. I have thoroughly enjoyed Psychology and its components, and in tutoring, aim to help bring understanding to what can sometimes be complicated concepts.
Study Skills Tutoring
Discipline is among one of the qualities that can make for a quality study experience. In creating a healthy work-to-life-balance, balancing a career, earning two degrees all while having a family, it has not been easy. However, all learners have the ability to achieve success, and with some effort, my aim is to help learners seeking to develop study skills do so in a way that makes sense for them, while promoting success.

Arts Tutoring
Art provides a creative outlet for self expression. In my youth, I thrived in the arts as a musician and sketching. My aim is to help learners develop their art skills/ interest in a way that best fits them.
Social Studies Tutoring
Social studies is a way to explain socially how individuals can interact, and factors that can impact those interactions. A combination of theory and actual practice in cultural relations is what supports/ provide a way for me to use ways that society, education and historical factors shape understanding. It is my aim to use these areas and others in a way that encourages learners understanding.
