Fun Facts
I absolutely love the beautiful scenery that Cache Valley has to offer! Back in middle school/high school I spent a lot of time exploring the outdoors with my local Boy Scout troop and even completed a 60-mile backpacking trip through Yosemite (ending with a climb up the world-famous Half Dome) and a 50-mile trip in New Mexico. I hope to continue exploring the natural beauty of Utah!
About Me
I am a junior education/utah/salt-lake-city">Special Education major at Utah State University. I moved here from Sacramento, CA to attend USU on the presidential scholarship and have fallen in love with the area! My dream is to someday run my own classroom serving students with mild to moderate disabilities. One day I hope to go back to school and earn my Masters in Education, so that someday I could become a education/utah/salt-lake-city">Special Education Director.
Experience
Throughout high school I tutored my fellow students and provided homework help during our school's daily enrichment hour. My experience has mostly involved the areas of mathematics (included advanced mathematics like Calculus), history, and chemistry. As part of my education I have served as a classroom aide at a local high school for a semester (teaching and re-mediating where necessary) and am currently teaching a group of struggling readers at an elementary school.
Approach
While I always found school subjects relatively easy I never lost sympathy for those who struggled in school and have always been willing to help those who needed a little extra instruction or guidance. My philosophy towards teaching is not to simply give students the answers but rather the tools to discover the answer on their own. The conceptual understanding behind every response is very important to me and I hope to impart my love for learning upon eager young minds!
