My passion is my family. I have a great husband and two super active kids that take up most of my extra time. When I have a little time to spare I like working with our horses.

About Me

I have been a Controller for a large public corporation for the last seven years. Prior to that I was a Controller for a private equity organization for six years. I graduated in 2005, summa cum laude and first in the Accounting Major. In addition, to attending school full time and maintaining a 4.0 GPA, I also worked part time at a regional CPA firm in Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas, which is where my accounting journey first began.

Experience

In college I joined a program to tutor lower class-man, which I thoroughly enjoyed. During my time as Controller for the large public organization I brought in multiple accounting interns that I tutored and mentored, while they worked towards their degrees at TCU and UT Arlington. I enjoy helping others recognize and realize their full potential.

Approach

Initially, I let the student talk my through the areas where he or she lacks the most confidence. Once I have a good understanding of their concerns and desired areas of focus I start by explaining a real life application of the accounting or business theory. I have found that most students are able to better comprehend and retain theory when the understand the use or the benefit of the information. I then work through the mechanics of the theory while keeping the student engaged.
