Fun Facts
I love the outdoors! I grew up camping every summer and it is still one of my favorite things to do with my family. One of the reasons I love teaching and tutoring is that I have the flexibility to spend my summers in the mountains. Hiking, fishing, boating, campfires, and relaxing - there is no better way to spend my off time.
About Me
I am in the process of becoming certified in secondary education mathematics in NM. In the meantime I spend my time tutoring, going to school, and spending time with my family. I am a military wife, my husband is currently transitioning from active duty Navy to Navy Reserves and the past four years has mainly been spent raising my boys. I have two sons at home, one is 4 and the other is almost 2. We have lived in VA for the past 4 years but have decided to come back to our home in NM.
Experience
I graduated from New Mexico Tech in 2012 with my B.S. in mathematics and went on to teach Math at Atrisco Heritage Academy HS on an Alternative License from 2012-2014. In 2014 our family was moved to VA where I obtained a position as an Algebra Readiness Tutor with PCG Education - UI. In this position I tutored in multiple schools within the area, helping students sharpen their pre-algebra skill in preparation for Algebra 1. I am currently working on my certification and my MS in Teaching.
Approach
I have one core value in helping students understand math, you can not tell me what you don't understand. What this means to me is that I don't expect students to be able to explain to me what they don't understand in the classroom, if they could do this then they mostly likely would not need help. I like to encourage students to write down everything they know how to do because it is easier for me to understand their understanding by seeing what they can do and where they are making mistakes.

Calculus I Tutoring
I have my BS in Mathematics, while in college I was a Calculus 1 lab teacher. I have one full year teaching Calculus AB at Atrisco Heritage Academy HS and continued to tutor all subjects through calculus for the past 3 years.
College Algebra Tutoring
Alone with having my BS in Mathematics I taught College Algebra at Atrisco Heritage Academy HS during the 2013-2014 school year. I have also been tutoring all subjects through calculus for the past 3 years.
