Fun Facts
I have played both sports and musical instruments for all my life, and have performed in state-level competitions in high school for both baseball and music. I play trumpet, and though I haven't had the chance to play recently in college I would still like to play trumpet throughout my life. I played baseball for over 10 years and I had the honor of being selected to play on the state All-Star Academic team. I am the youngest child, with two older brothers that have similar interests.
About Me
I am currently at the University of Arizona as a freshman. I am an Astronomy/Math major with a minor in physics. As for Astronomy, which is my primary major, my great great great uncle inspired me to pursue Astronomy, even if his time was long before mine. He discovered the Doppler Shift, also known as the Red Shift, and he was also the director of the Lowell Observatory at the time Pluto was discovered there. My goal is to pursue a career in Astrophysics and perform research on gravity waves.
Experience
I have no professional experience tutoring; however, I frequently help my classmates in lower levels of study as well as younger family members. I do have experience tutoring in music, so I have the skills necessary for tutoring. I have found that patience is required to help anyone with difficult subjects, as well as abstract thinking to explain difficult concepts. I can certainly apply my experience of musical tutoring to a more academic approach that uses my knowledge of math and science.
Approach
I have a current Astronomy class that focuses on abstract thinking to solve astronomical problems, and I have fallen in love with this approach. I have discovered throughout my own schooling that abstract thought is required to teach well, because while something may be straightforward for one person, it would be abstract thinking for another person. People do not think alike, and in order for one to teach a concept, abstract thinking is required to bridge the difference in thinking.

Calculus I Tutoring
I received a 4 on the AP Calculus AB BC test, which gave me college credit. Unlike calculus II, calculus I is a basis for all calculus, so even a few years after taking the class I still use the concepts in my higher level calculus and physics courses.
College Algebra Tutoring
I have always scored highest in the college algebra and algebra section in standardized tests, so even though I have not taken the class I am far above the level college algebra is at. I have a strong understanding of algebra, which is still needed in higher level courses.
Math Tutoring
I am currently in vector calculus, or calculus III, even though back in high school I took it and differential equations, I chose not to take it for college credit and instead wanted to go more in depth in these subjects, so my understanding of math has been growing through retaking a course I took in high school, which I easily passed with an A.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
Pre-Calculus is an application of algebra, I still use some of the techniques even in vector calculus, such as graphing functions and trigonometry. I use a lot of trigonometric manipulation in order to solve vector calculus functions, as well as algebraic manipulations, all of which come from pre calculus.
Algebra Tutoring
I have higher algebra scores on standardized tests than any of my other scores, I normally would not miss more than one or two problems on a standardized test when it comes to algebra. At the risk of sounding arrogant, many of my algebraic manipulations I need to do for high level math classes I do in my head since I have such a strong basis, and there is nothing worse than being tutored and watching your tutor having to do simple calculations on a sheet of paper.
Algebra II Tutoring
Algebra II is another strength of mine, I have no problem understanding the concepts. It is a graphing and function heavy class, and I have continued to use graphs and functions into higher level classes in college, so I am constantly using Algebra II in my high level math and physics courses.
AP Physics Tutoring
In AP Physics I received an A both semesters, I have built upon those concepts learned in AP Physics in my physics classes in college so that instead of just knowing the equations, I can derive them and understand them, as well as teach them, which is the most important part.
Calculus Tutoring
I continually use calculus in both my physics and math classes in college, I love working with calculus and I feel it should be the standard for education because it is such a valuable subject. I scored well on tests and received a 4 on the AP Calculus test, which gave me college credit. I have refreshed myself in the subject by helping some of my peers that need help in their lower calculus classes.
Calculus AP Tutoring
I continually use calculus in both my physics and math classes in college, I love working with calculus and I feel it should be the standard for education because it is such a valuable subject. I scored well on tests and received a 4 on the AP Calculus test, which gave me college credit. I have refreshed myself in the subject by helping some of my peers that need help in their lower calculus classes.
Physics Tutoring
In AP Physics I received an A both semesters, I have built upon those concepts learned in AP Physics in my physics classes in college so that instead of just knowing the equations, I can derive them and understand them, as well as teach them, which is the most important part.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
Pre-Algebra is basic calculations that form the basis for math, I have grown used to doing most calculations in my head, and at this level I strongly discourage the use of calculators, as I have learned in my Astronomy class in college, most math can be estimated in your head, and I have learned to do this with basic calculations. I enjoy manipulating or "crunching" the numbers and I would be eager to help others learn how.
SAT Math Tutoring
My math scores for the SAT were higher than all my other subscores for the SAT. Most of the SAT deals with basic algebra all the way to pre-calculus, all of which I have a strong understanding of. All of the math on the SAT is from pre-algebra to pre-calculus, and as stated in the other subjects, I am continually using the basic concepts even in higher level math.
Science Tutoring
Science is a general term but I received A's in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in high school. I don't frequently use biology, but chemistry and physics I have a strong understanding of, I use chemistry and physics in both my college astronomy and physics classes.
Trigonometry Tutoring
Trigonometry is an important part of math. I continually use it in vector calculus, physics, and astronomy. I have a strong understanding of it and can graph trigonometric functions and solve problems involving trigonometry.
Math Advance Tutoring
I have always been advanced in math, ever since elementary school, and still all the way to college I am ahead of most people. I understand and can solve math problems in all branches of math up to differential equations. So in advanced math in middle school, usually algebra and geometry, I have a strong understanding and I regularly use these concepts.
Middle School Math Tutoring
Middle school math primarily consists of basic algebra and pre-algebra. Most of it is manipulating numbers and solving simple problems. I could not be in my high level math, physics, and astronomy courses without knowing the basics of math.
