Fun Facts
As a politics and government major I find it important to maintain hobbies and to stay involved with the arts in order to keep a healthy balance between work and play. I love playing cello, baking, pressing flowers and building furniture with my roommate. I intern for a campaign in Brooklyn and love to read books on philosophy.
About Me
I am a senior at St. John's University and I am studying politics and government. I currently have a 3.67 in my major and plan to work in journalism or in policy after school.
In high school I tutored underprivileged students from a local middle school in social studies, math and language arts. The students came by bus and we were assigned a student per six weeks to keep track of and to track their progress.
My queens">tutoring approach is to try to get to know the student and their interests and find ways that the subject will be relevant to them. Many of the students from my high school queens">tutoring were interested in music. If I was able to explain math in terms of beats, or in fractions, or song writing as structural poetry the students became much more responsive.
