Fun Facts

I like to think that I have very broad range of interests. Since I was in high school I liked learning new things and acquired a large set of hobbies: doing magic tricks, break-dancing, playing guitar, juggling- just to name a few. But more importantly, in my opinion, I like to get people excited about learning new things, whatever it may be.

About Me

I am a graduate student at Stony Brook university pursuing a master's degree in Mechanical Engineer. I graduated in May 2013 with a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics and Statistics as a second major. I don't have a particular dream job but I think anything that involves design would be fun

Throughout my high school career I tutored my younger cousins (5th grade) in math, science and sometimes English. As i moved on to college I continued tutoring them whenever i was back home in earth science, algebra mostly (8th grade). Every time I went their parents would thank me because my cousins would do better on exams and seem interested in the subject.

From my experience, learning something largely depends on the way the information is presented. I believe this mainly depends on how interesting/relevant the information is and how comprehensible it is. After the student decides he/she wants to learn something it's only a matter of explaining the process clearly and practicing it. I concluded it's more efficient for a topic to be explained in a way that is logical and intuitive, that way the emphasis is on understanding, not memorizing. If a student is interested in the topic he/she will ask questions, want to practice, and keep learning.
