Fun Facts

Three things that I love the most are dogs, the beach, and playing tennis. All of these things make me very happy and I try to see dogs, go to the beach, and play tennis as often as I can. Luckily, there are dogs and tennis at the beach so it's a win all around. I am the oldest of three, and have lived in the Central Valley my whole life. Moving to Fresno for school has been an adventure, but I love it here!!

About Me

I am a freshman at Fresno Pacific University studying Kinesiology. I am a President's Scholarship recipient as well as a President's Science Scholarship recipient. When I graduate, I plan on going to graduate school to get my Masters in Occupational Therapy. Eventually I hope to be a therapist for children.

Experience

For the last two years, I have been a classroom TA for a 6th grade middle school math class. Seeing these kids every day and helping them understand the material is a rewarding feeling. In these same two years, I was an academic mentor for my peers in high school. I would make sure that they were up to date on their assignments as well as assist them in any homework questions they had. Working with both middle school and high school students has prepared me to tutor students of any age.

Approach

Throughout my childhood, my parents were not much help when I got into more advanced subjects in school. I had to learn how to figure things out on my own when I was doing homework because I couldn't get any help from my parents. This has shown me how to handle different workloads and how to complete homework efficiently and effectively. I am excited to help students have a deeper understanding for the material which will create a better learning environment for themselves.

Algebra Tutoring

I was in an advanced math program in middle school. I took Algebra in 7th grade instead of 8th grade. I have continued to use these concepts throughout the rest of my math courses.

Homework Coach Tutoring

Homework can be difficult to get a hold of sometimes. I will help students make schedules to ensure that all homework is completed on time and not rushed. High school and college have shown me how important time management is and how to prioritize.

Middle School Math Tutoring

My middle school, McSwain Elementary, allowed me and some of my classmates to enter Algebra and Geometry ahead of schedule. I took Algebra as a 7th grader and Geometry as an 8th grader. I love these two subjects because the lay the foundation for future math courses. I took a math course all four years of high school and ended with AP Calculus BC, this is the equivalent to Calculus 2. Everything I learned from middle school math courses will definitely show up again in higher level math courses so it is important to know this material.

Study Skills Tutoring

Studying is difficult at any grade level. I have learned how to use textbooks, notes, and even others to help my studying process. Worksheets and study guides are very important to the study process. I can show students how to efficiently study for upcoming quizzes and tests.

Writing Tutoring

Essays were difficult for me in middle school. It takes a lot of practice and growing to become a good writer. AP Language, AP Literature, and Written Communications Honors have given me a lot of tips and practice that I can apply to timed writes, writing essays, research papers.

Math Tutoring

Elementary school math lays down a foundation for all other maths. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are all skills that are not only necessary for other math courses but for real life as well. These functions might seem intimidating for some students but I can show them how to master these skills and make it less scary.

Science Tutoring

Science is an important subject that I think students should learn to love from a young age. It can get very difficult very fast but if there is a passion for the subject, students will want to put in the work. As this is my major, I will try to show students how fun and interesting science can be and how it can apply to their every day lives.
