Fun Facts
I love to teach and I love research! I'm a curious person and like to ask lots of questions and go out and find the answer so research is a great fit for me. I'm also a very observant person. In my spare time, I like to read, go hiking, do puzzles, go four-wheeling and hang out by the pool. I can't get enough sun!
About Me
I am Sudanese-Egyptian and grew up in the Middle East. I moved to Ohio when I was 10 years old and lived there until after college. For years, I thought I wanted to be a doctor so I went to Yale medical school after college. I realized that practicing medicine wasn't for me so I now work in research and will be applying to graduate school in pharmaceutical science
I was a teaching assistant in college for organic chemistry. I lectured for an hour every week over course materials then administered a quiz. I also have extensive phoenix">tutoring experience teaching Math and English to students of all ages at Kumon Math and Reading Center and at Mathnasium. Also, many of my friends have asked for my help in their high school and college math courses
My phoenix">tutoring approach is to not give the answer, but to let the student find the answer him or herself. Of course, I always guide the student and try and work out the problem with him/her. I try to have a conversation with the student about the problem to evaluate comprehension. I have a lot of patience and try to to teach each student not only the concept and study skills but patience, positivity and the importance of a good attitude.
