Fun Facts

At the young age of eight, I decided I wanted to become a teacher, and from then on I have never looked back! I come from a long line of teachers; my mother, grandmother, both of my aunts, AND my uncle are all teachers!

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher, a Special and Early Childhood education major, and an after school tutor. I specialize in tutoring with school-age students who are struggling in reading, writing, and/or math. In college, I also minored in linguistics education; this experience has influenced my approach to teaching because I now have an in depth understanding of how language develops from birth- into adulthood, and how this affects and contributes to how we learn to read, write and speak.

Experience

I have been teaching for 3 years now, currently I am teaching at an elementary school in Chicago. I have been tutoring for over 6 years. I was a tutor every summer during college, and now that I am a teacher, I offer after school tutoring services to private clients.

Approach

As a private tutor I take a personalized learning approach with each student I work with. This approach entails first getting to know your student as an individual, and understanding how this contributes to your child as a learner. I believe that students learn best, especially those who are struggling, when they can make connections between what they are learning, and their interests everyday lives.My ultimate goal as a tutor is to bring my clients from where they are, to where they need to be.
