Critical thinking and reasoning are the bedrock of today's academic world . Use of reasoning is a crucial skill in the present day in order to succeed. Critical thinking and reasoning enable one to create and replicate success in others as well. The trend is to use it everywhere, a fact supporting the conclusion that almost all kinds of thinking are amenable to analysis this way. Nobody can afford be left behind. So it is imperative to train minds to practice critical thinking and reasoning.

About Me

Did you know that I have taught hundreds of students taking the GRE, and TOEFL tests? I taught the GMAT, SAT, and IELTS tests also. I began teaching test prep in 1993.

I completed My masters in English and a post graduate diploma in English Studies way back in the years 1975 to 1980. I have done some creative writing also and helps me understand people.

I hope to help students take standardized tests into the foreseeable future. Never mind that test prep is new every day.

Experience

Jam packed classes, roaring seminars, moving from paper based GRE, GMAT and TOEFL tests to the computer adaptive versions, employing drive and persevering in the face of competition, all these have I done in good measure and I am waiting to share my unique perspective on standardized tests with any and all who have an ear to lend. It takes rigorous thinking to understand standardized tests. I am sure glad that you will succeed in doing what it takes to win.

Approach

Every individual is unique and at the same time shares a common humanity with the rest. Both of these must be taken into account when the learning processes are addressed? Could it be that such an approach might be a greatly useful and satisfying endeavor? Impelled by evolution and shaped by culture, the brain moves into high gear when it meets the reasoning and critical thinking found on standardized tests. Success happens in the process as I employ all the strategies needed to win the tests.

Writing Advance Tutoring

I have done research on Ulysses by James Joyce for which I secured a GPA of 3.50/4.00. The stream of consciousness technique used by Joyce is mind boggling. The same technique was used in his the writing by my personal favorite William Faulkner.

AP English Tutoring

I have a graduate degree in English and a post graduate diploma in English Studies. I have taught English composition and writing to undergraduate students taking standardized tests.

ISEE Tutoring

Over the past year I have taught numerous ISEE students and trained them in the types of questions found on the test. The sections that I taught are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Achievement and Essay. I prepared them for the king of thinking needed to do well in the test.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Some of my subjects in high school and college were Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Math and Social Studies. I am a graduate in English with a post graduate diploma thrown in. This background helps me in teaching Reading Comprehension.

SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring

I have taught various versions of the SAT test as it changed over a period of two decades. Now question types such as Sentence Completion and Analogies are not found on the test. What remain are Reading, and the use of English language grammatically and idiomatically.

ACT English Tutoring

When I look at ACT English, I realize that it is similar to SAT and GMAT. I have more than two decades of experience in the field of test prep and have no hesitation in saying that this standardized test is amenable to the insights that i have gained over the years.

ACT Reading Tutoring

The ACT Reading Comprehension is similar to the Reading that is found in the SAT, GRE and GMAT. The types of questions are ones that have been time tested and are crucial to in depth understanding of the passages. This part of the test covers the same ground as do the tests mentioned earlier.

GMAT Tutoring

The Linguistics and Grammar courses that I completed for my Post Graduate Diploma in English Studies have helped me do teach GMAT Sentence Correction. The Modern Language (English) of my undergraduate degree helps me in Reading Comprehension. The Intellectual Background to Modern Literature courses help me in Critical Reasoning and Analytical Writing Assessment.

GRE Tutoring

My Masters in English helps me in teaching Reading Comprehension. The Stylistics course in Post Graduate Diploma in English Studies helps me in Sentence Equivalence and Text Completion. The Intellectual Background to Modern Literature helps me in Analytical Writing Assessment.

ISEE Tutoring

The Math course in my high school helps me in Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics Achievement of the ISEE. My graduate degree in English helps me in Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and the Essay.

LSAT Tutoring

The LSAT has Critical Reasoning questions similar to the ones on GMAT Verbal. Having taught test prep over the years I believe that the other types of questions found on the LSAT are similar to the old Logical Reasoning questions in the third section, the Analytical, in a version of the GRE which was current nearly 20 years ago. The test is challenging and has remained so for several years now.

SSAT Tutoring

The Math I learned in high school stood me in good stead. This highly standardized test is amenable to critical thinking and reasoning rather than to calculations, No familiarity with flowery language or grammar rules is required for this test.. .

PSAT Tutoring

I have taught SAT in its various manifestations as the test changed over the last twenty years. This experience has given me insights into the test that are revealed only through diligent effort to understand it over many years. It goes without saying that I will help the students achieve their target scores on the test.

COOP/HSPT Tutoring

COOP and HSPT are tests used to get admission in to Catholic schools.They are different and more difficult than other tests such as the SSAT and the ISEE. The tests will challenge students as they must race to answer all the given questions within the time limit.
