Fun Facts
One of my favorite past times is reading. I practically own my library and you will almost always find me with a book in my hand. My other hobbies include sight seeing, going to museums, and checking out different historical sights. I have 7 nieces and nephews, as well as am a mom of 1. I love to explore and learn new things while sharing time with all the children in my life.
About Me
I have been working for the past 4 years as an instructional assistant in an elementary school Special Day classroom. Before that I spent 3 years working at a preschool and being a part time nanny. I am currently on a short break from taking classes at American River College so that I can focus on my family while my daughter is still an infant. When she herself enters school I hope to return and finish my teaching degree and credential program so I can begin teaching elementary or middle school.
Experience
In my career field I have experienced working with a large variety of students and supporting their learning and growth. I enjoy helping the students I work with to find their strengths in each subject so that they can build more confidence to tackle the weaker points in each subject. Although my job primarily has me in a education/california/sacramento">special education classroom I do spend a portion of each day in the general education classrooms and help students outside of my class as well.
Approach
Through my experience working in the classroom for so many years, I have found that not every person learns the same way. Due to this, I taller my approach at tutoring to fit the individuals needs. I use a mixture of creating visuals, memorization, using examples, etc to find different ways of teaching. I like to make learning fun and interactive so that it is enjoyable in order to avoid discouragement. I believe that learning is interactive and not just about memorizing facts in a book.
