Fun Facts
One thing I really enjoy doing is reading books. I tend to gravitate towards romance novels and those of historical and cultural significance. On my spare time, I also enjoy singing and dancing. This year, I hope to get back into dance by joining a step team and taking lessons in tap and ballroom dancing.
About Me
In 2014, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. While in college, I was involved various honor and service organizations including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Tau Sigma, and Habitat for Humanity. My goal is to pursue a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. I want to use my life experiences and the knowledge gained in my undergraduate and graduate studies to open a nonprofit organization that caters to at-risk youth and young adults
Experience
As a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, I had the pleasure of tutoring local elementary school children for the Discovery Program. During my senior year of college, I served as a mentor and tutor to teens and young adults at local nonprofit agency, Visions Unlimited. I mainly tutored in reading, writing, and social studies, but at times I also helped program participants grasp essential life skills such as communication and teamwork.
Approach
When I first entered into elementary school, learning was difficult because I had never been in any preschool programs. Teachers expected students to have some knowledge of the concepts taught in class. When I was in middle school and high school, I was fortunate to have teachers and advisers who were willing to go the extra mile to ensure my success. As a tutor, I want to help students grasp the content while also helping them gain the confidence needed to be successful in school and beyond.
