About Me

I hold a BA in English Literature from UCLA as of 2012 and I currently work full time as an academic agent in Long Beach. I also currently volunteer with young children for graduate school prerequisites in occupational therapy. I spent a year abroad in Japan teaching English to a diverse age group and class sizes while traveling and exploring the culture and customs of the country in my spare time. I currently work a full time position that allows a great deal of flexibility, so times might be lenient. My current profession as a counselor is just a stepping stone towards my objective of becoming an occupational therapist.

Experience

I have recently come back from teaching English for a year in Japan. I taught a diverse range of individuals and class sizes, ranging anywhere from 5 toddlers in a room to 5 businessmen in a room. Prior to that, I have tutoring experience in grammar, reading-comprehension/california/long-beach">reading comprehension, reading speed, essay writing, critical thinking, proofreading, and resume/CV revision.

Approach

I tend to stray away from the dictatived approach and rather, try to enter each session with a clear and open mind, free of judgement and full of patience. I find it extremely important to try to get to know the student on a deeper level than simply "instructor" while maintaining a professional stance.
