Fun Facts
I am a native Tucsonan and a desert bug. I love hiking, catching glimpses of the occasional coyote, and eating raspados into the sunset. My dogs are a significant part of my life, and I am often wrangling one or another at the dog park. I really wish I were musical, so I compensate by seeing loads of concerts, hanging around Zia records, and dancing like a fool whenever possible.
About Me
I am a recent U of A graduate who has a passion for the environment and who wants to become a farmer. A college-educated farmer you ask? Don't laugh - there are more of us than you think! I have my whole life taken education very seriously, and it is through this path that I found that the best way to help people in my field of interest is to reshape the food system. I want to start out with basic farming, but transition into changing transportation norms, eliminating food deserts, and empowering communities.
I have experience tucson">tutoring mostly at the high school level. I completed an Americorps term at Pima Partnership High School where I tutored mostly ESL students in English and study skills. I really fell in love with tucson">tutoring when I realized how smart every student I helped was and how providing just a simple alternate way to look at a problem opened up their mind to the solution.
As a former nerd (I went to the "smart school" after all), I picked up a variety of study skills that helped me through even the subjects I wasn't so strong in. I always try to teach students cognitive problem-solving skills that can help them through more than just their current obstacle. I also approach tucson">tutoring from a place of dignity; I know that it is not always easy to ask for help and sometimes it's downright embarrassing. However, a person that knows their strong suits and knows when they need a little assistance is a person with true self-confidence. So, simply, my approach is to teach big-picture skills and confidence.
