I feel passionately about the importance of learning about different languages, cultures, food and travel. I have been to 10 different countries so far and I have the rest of the world on my list.

I love British lit and cinema and am mostly listening to different podcasts and the BBC.

About Me

I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Austin, TX where my mother, originally from Guatemala and my father from Spain never let us speak English at home. In fact, we would get in trouble if we did! I am also a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelors in International Relations, Latin American Studies and French. Moving to NYC attracted me to begin a career in the international non profit sector and am currently interning as a translator/in

Experience

My experience has substantially increased from unique opportunities such as being an English and Spanish tutor/nanny for several French children when I studied abroad in Paris for a year, or being a volunteer tutor/instructor and homework helper to Latin American and African children from the local refugee shelter in Austin as well as private Spanish tutoring throughout my high school and university years. I love mentoring and motivating children to learn a new language.

Approach

My approach to teaching is based on motivating the person learning the language. I first give them the purpose and importance of learning an incredibly useful language and then I apply it to real life scenarios. In order to effectively teach information, I will have casual, simple, and relatable dialogue. I believe in having to constantly capture the learner's attention and captivate them with entertaining methods so they properly engage in and retain information.
