Fun Facts

I love reading! I can tell you any fact about the Harry Potter series. Many people are surprised to learn that I have a sister adopted from Ethiopia. I even helped her learn English! I listen to jazz and swing music regularly. Although I am trained as a Sign Language interpreter, my true passion is Occupational Therapy. In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing with my cats, watching '90s sitcoms, and going on adventurous walks with my husband.

About Me

I recently graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelors in Sign Language Interpreting. During my senior year, I created, founded, and managed a peer-mentorship program of almost 20 students. In two years, I hope to attend GSU's Occupational Therapy graduate program. My goal is to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist specializing in neurology.

Experience

Throughout the last seven years, I have provided special needs respite care services, taught preschool, and tutored students with ADHD, executive function issues, dyslexia, and audio-processing disorder. I have dedicated myself to a lifetime of helping children reach their full potential. Frog Tutoring allows me to expand my reach!

Approach

Throughout grade school, I struggled with deadlines, time management, and studying. In college, I finally learned how to pace myself and go above and beyond. When I ran the mentorship program, I further learned how to help others build confidence and make learning practical and fun. As a homework coach, I am dedicated to helping students not only learn the course work, but to become better students overall. Inexperience does not equal inability; I believe in helping students find their ability!

American Sign Language Tutoring

I have studied ASL in the classroom and out in the Deaf community for the past six years. I successfully graduated from Georgia State University's interpreter training program. I also ran a peer-mentorship program of almost twenty participants for the Sign Language department at GSU.

Algebra Tutoring

In high school, I took Algebra classes two years before the grade-level standard, even after having skipped a grade. I also passed College Algebra with an A. Mathematics has always come naturally to me, as well as an ability to explain complex problems to my peers.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I have extensive experience working with students with different abilities. I believe in showing students how to improve as a student outside of simply learning the coursework. These skills are ones that will increase success in the student's future career.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

In middle school, I took Pre-Algebra two years before the grade-level standard, even after having skipped a grade. I also passed College Algebra with an A. Mathematics has always come naturally to me, as well as an ability to explain complex problems to my peers.

Arts Tutoring

Arts in Elementary School involves a lot of fine motor skills. My experience working with students of different abilities and as a preschool inclusion specialist has given me tools to help children learn to manipulate the different instruments needed to create art. It is also an opportunity for sensory exploration!

Elementary Math Tutoring

Mathematics has always come naturally to me, as well as an ability to explain how to solve problems. I believe in using a visual and tactile approach when teaching math fundamentals to elementary students. By making math tangible, students are better able to learn complex systems.
