Fun Facts

I'm a dedicated knitter and gardener who plants tulips everywhere. I've practiced law, worked as a newspaper reporter and have the most fun writing novels and starting small businesses.

About Me

I graduated Connecticut College and UCONN Law and want to share my love of learning. I have a small business and write books.

Experience

I'm an experienced tutor, particularly in writing. I first tutored years ago at the Connecticut College Writing Center. I returned to tutoring because it's so much fun. Schools don't don't necessarily meet an individual student's needs. I enjoy devising methods on teaching different subjects. I love working with k-12, English, Spanish, history, math and science. At the college level, I can work with students on English, the humanities and social sciences. I can also help with LSAT prep.

Approach

I want each student to learn how to learn on their own. My goal is to endow every student with the ability to use the world as their learning laboratory and university in every subject for which he or she feels passion. I want to maximize each student's potential. I make sure that my students understand my goal is for them to be at the top of their class. With my help, and some discipline, you can be at the top of your class.

English Tutoring

I studied old and modern poetry and western literature, including seminars of James Joyce and literary theory. I also was accepted into the creative writing and advanced creative writing seminars which were very small and competitive. We had to submit our own writing and the professor would select the best entries to admit to the seminar.

Writing Advance Tutoring

I was a paid writing tutor and studied rhetoric and methods of persuasion while at Connecticut College. I was editor of a human rights newsletter I founded in college as well. I was a professional newspaper reporter and my work has been published in newspapers in Washington State and Connecticut. I revised and proof read multi-million dollar grant proposals when I was just 23 and working at World Vision in Washington, DC. In law school I did a thesis on solar energy law. I also write pleadings, motions and memoranda for court as a lawyer. In other words, I'm familiar with many kinds of writing. My work as a tutor more than 20 years ago at Connecticut College, directed by Professor Theresa Ammirati, gave me experience in tutoring students in writing.

Social Studies Tutoring

I received the award for highest grades and best work in the toughest English lit classes offered by the high school and also did Independent Studies with a focus on environmental literature.
