Fun Facts
Boston native & loving my explorations of the west so far. I'm thoroughly addicted to playing music and I haven't missed a day of practicing cello or guitar in years. I'm enthusiastic about books, video games, and Indian cuisine. Few things are more satisfying than making a good curry.
About Me
I graduated with my B.A. in Physics from Cornell College, and next year I'll be a math teacher in Ghana with the Peace Corps. Following that I hope to pursue my Masters in Electrical Engineering.
Experience
I've spent all four years of college tutoring students of a wide range of ages. Freshman year I tutored math and science at the local middle school. Later, I taught percussion and guitar lessons for elementary students, an volunteered my time teaching ESL for adult refugees. Most recently, I was an instructor for the University of Iowa's Pre-Engineering program, where we led students in building and programming Tetrix robots.
Approach
The pressure to perform in school is greater than ever, and colleges look for exceptional kids among the exceptional. The best teachers approach their students with compassion and understanding for this stress, and has the mastery to bring out each one's unique potential. I strive to help students strengthen their weak subjects and reinforce their best, while fostering inquiry and equipping them with critical thinking skills.
