Experience
Heather Laude has been an experienced Private Tutor for over a decade in Foreign Languages, History, English, SAT prep, Music as well as English as a Second Language. Music
Italian Tutoring
Italian is one of the six languages I am able to speak.I started singing on stage at the age of ten and by the time I was twelve, I was learning how to sing in Italian. I was taught proper Italian Diction as well as how to translate the lyrics of my music on my own.I became a Carnegie Merit Scholar and attended The College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University as a Music major and took four semesters of Italian class as well as two semesters of Italian Diction.After already learning how to speak Spanish and French, Italian was rather easy for me to learn.
Study Skills Tutoring
I believe that having good Study Skills is imperative for the foundation of a good education. I have learned that people learn in different ways and all students are unique. Some learn by writing, some learn my reading and some learn better by listening and observing.One thing that I am certain of is that while studying, repetition creates perfection. Having good Study Skills can create higher scores on homework and exams and that is why I love instructing individuals in this subject.
Spanish Tutoring
I started studying Spanish in the seventh grade and continued to take Spanish class until I graduated from High School. I ended up with an A in Spanish IV. After years of Spanish classes, I was able to read, write and Speak Spanish at a highly proficient level. In college, I made friends with several people from South America with whom I would speak Spanish and that is how I became fluent in the language. I have been a Spanish Tutor for over ten years now and I am very good at what I do.I enjoy witnessing my student"s grades improve as they study with me.
Writing Tutoring
I have always been very good at writing essays as well as Creative Writing. To some, it comes naturally while for others, it can be a challenge. My goal as a Writing Tutor is to help people do better on essays and Creative Writing assignments. This takes practice and some learned Study Skills.I am more than happy to help with this subject.
Music History Tutoring
Music History is an important part of a complete education. I began singing Classical Music on stage at the age of ten, and my directors and teachers always taught me how important it was to know about the composers of the songs I was singing.I enjoyed American Music History in Elementary School when I learned about Stephen Foster. The life and legacy of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart still inspires me to this day.
Music Production Tutoring
I am Producer, Owner and Director of Mansion Flats Production Studio. I am a Classical Vocalist and produced my own Solo Debut Album.My stage experience started at the age of ten and I learned from some of the best Musical Theater and Opera Producers in Northern California.I am a Carnegie Merit Scholar, California State Arts Scholar and former San Francisco Opera Arts Apprentice.
Voice (Music) Tutoring
I began singing on stage at the age of ten. I started taking private Voice Lessons at the age of twelve and loved my Voice Teacher very much. I became a California State Arts Scholar at the age of fourteen for Voice (Music). At the age of fifteen, I became a San Francisco Opera Arts Apprentice and studied with some of the best Voice Teachers in Northern California. I became a Carnegie Merit Scholar at the age of seventeen for Voice (Music) and after I graduated High School, I attended The College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University for Operatic Vocal Performance. It was at Carnegie Mellon where I learned how to be a Voice Teacher and now have many years of experience as a Private Voice Teacher.
Conversational French Tutoring
I took French class for four years in High School. I grew up singing on stage and by the time I was fifteen years I had learned how to sing in French. The way I learned French more thoroughly was when I spent a Summer in Paris, France. I was able to communicate in French quite effectively while I was there.
Conversational Spanish Tutoring
I started taking Spanish class in the seventh grade and continued studying Spanish until I graduated from High School. By then I was most proficient in the language. How I best learned Conversational Spanish was when I went to college and made friends with some nice people from South America and we all carried on our conversations in Spanish. Now I am fluent in Spanish.
English Tutoring
English is my primary language out of the six languages that I speak.I always did well in English class, never getting anything less than an A each semester.Some of my most influential teachers throughout my scholastic years were my English teachers. I learned from the best so now I can Tutor like the best.
ESL Tutoring
I have a lot of experience tutoring English as a Second Language. My most recent experience was teaching Spanish speaking employees at a Construction company how to read, write and speak in English. I instructed this class at the group level and all of my students were adults.
French Tutoring
I started singing on stage at the age of ten. By Middle School, I was learning how to sing in French. I took French class for four years in High School and picked up the language quite quickly. Reading Comprehension Tutoring
There is a certain art to Reading Comprehension and it is not always easy for everyone. It is a skill that I can teach to both children and adults. The art is in retaining the information in which one has read and truly understanding it. There are study skills that I use with my Reading Comprehension students that create great improvement in the way they understand information that they read as well as improvement in the way they retain knowledge.

SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
I have experience helping a man from Armenia prepare for the Verbal/Writing part of the SAT. He did not speak very good English at that time and wanted to go to college to get a better job. Not only did I help him with his English (as an English Second Language Tutor) I helped him study and prepare to do well on the Written/Verbal part of the SAT. This man ended up doing quite well on his SAT and was able to attend California State University Sacramento.
History Tutoring
I have always done well in History class throughout my educational journey and I genuinely believe it is because I had good teachers. Now, I want to be that good teacher and assist someone else to improve their grades in History class by making History fun and interesting to my students. I want to help my History students improve their scores on homework and exams by introducing to them certain new Study Skills that are unique to that individual.
Arts Tutoring
Studying Arts has always seemed very enjoyable to me, whether it was Music, Visual Arts, Dance or Drama. I became a California State Arts Scholar by the time I was fourteen and was a San Francisco Opera Arts Apprentice at the age of fifteen. I have a lot to contribute as an Arts Tutor, including Music Appreciation, Art History.or just General Arts.
