About Me

I have CELTA Certification to teach ESL. The English language is a difficult, yet amazing language and I enjoy helping people tackle it verbally, visually and audibly. Science (in particular Biology and Chemistry) is fun, especially in the right settings; there's science all around us! Lastly, Math is the subject that seems to be a hit or miss, either my students like it or they don't. I focus on getting students to learn the history of Math (statistically most students who are weak in Math tend to be strong in History and/or English). Once I can get them to see Math in a new light, and relate it to their hobbies and interests, it becomes much easier for them to tackle Math head on like the champion they are!

Experience

I have been tutoring since I was 18 years old. Funny thing it was not something I looked for when I first started. I was chosen to tutor my peers because my counselor and teacher at the time liked the way I broke things down. Sometimes people see abilities in you that you do not see in yourself. Overtime I learned how rewarding tutoring is and fell in love with sharing all that I learn with people I encounter. I do well at breaking things down and I try my best to make the learning process fun.

Approach

First, I find learn my student's learning style, hobbies and background.

Next, I ask them about the subject (s) they like the most or the least and why.

Then, I then give an assessment test (based on the subject in question) to gauge their strengths and weaknesses in that particular subject.

Finally, I create a curriculum that contains exercises and a list of resources that can strengthen their weaknesses in the subject they're having difficulty in.
