Fun Facts
I absolutely love cooking. I can merrily state that my kitchen is my playground in every sense! My grandmother has always been a wonderful cook, and I feel she is my inspiration. I have seen her prepare scrumptious meals for hundreds of guests in a few hours! My other hobbies include playing board games and solving all kinds of puzzles. Of the two, I spend most of my free time bent over a puzzle, like a jigsaw, general trivia, logic, cryptic, or even a Sudoku or crossword puzzle.
About Me
My major and area of research in college is Psychology. Psychology allows people to understand more about how the body and mind work together, so my goal is to help others with decision-making and avoiding stressful situations.
Experience
I had the opportunity to work at Kumon Math and Reading Center for 4 years. The Kumon Program is an education system that aims to develop students' academic ability and independence. Towards the end of my time there, I was promoted to the Early Learner Program where I introduced toddlers to letters and numbers and guided them through the first steps of learning to read and count. I have tutored many students, of all ages throughout the years, including special-needs students and ESL students.
Approach
My goal is to reinforce the importance of organization which helps students experience success throughout their lives. At the start of every session, I typically help students organize their assignments by subject by putting them in binders, notebooks, or folders. Next, we make a "To-do" list together and outline dates and deadlines. After that, we look at assignments and begin assessing where the student may need my help or clarification on difficult topics

Communication Tutoring
Many people in my life describe me as an excellent communicator. For me, I take what I have learned from my Psychology classes to create a sense of psychological safety, which is crucial to any form of communication in my opinion. Also, I tend to help my students focus on non-verbal communication, which gives us just as much information, if not more, than verbal communication. I have many tips to improve student's written and oral communication. For example, I teach students to balance talking and listening, both individually and with others and also validate others’ perspectives even if they have differing opinions.
