Fun Facts
I enjoy trying new workouts, cooking, exploring coffee shops, and going on road trips! I constantly update myself on current events through podcasts, news and Lynda.com; an online teaching portal.
About Me
I am currently a freelance photographer who specializes in food, lifestyle, and product photography. I graduated with a BFA in Professional Photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. I am originally from the Bay Area, and currently reside in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.
Experience
I worked with a talented wedding photographer (Duke Photography) for 1 year as a studio manager, assistant, and retoucher. I then worked as a contract photographer for Bodhi Tree (metaphysical online bookstore). I had the opportunity to photograph high-quality products that educate, inspire and enrich a conscious lifestyle. Check them out: www.bodhitree.com. I currently am the photographer for The Sourcery, a cosmetics company (http://sourceryusa.com). I am always working on new projects!
Approach
As a student, I discovered everyone obtains knowledge in different methods. It was difficult to understand certain teachers; their pace was either too slow (put me to sleep) or too fast where I couldn't retain the information. It is about finding the right teacher who can understand your way of comprehending material. I am a visual, hands on learner, who studies at a slow yet efficient pace. I am here to guide and teach the best learning methods that will stay with them long term.

Adobe Photoshop Tutoring
As a photographer it is important to learn Photoshop at an advanced level in order to retouch your own photos and provide quality. Post production keeps your images clean (removing imperfections on skin and unwanted distractions in backgrounds). Photoshop can also be used to show your style, using color treatments and the curves/color balance tool.
I have helped other photographers speed up their workflow showing them shortcuts and different tools and techniques for retouching. There are several ways to do one task and its great to know them all because every image is different.
Writing Tutoring
I have always excelled in writing, being my strongest subject. It gives you the chance to express yourself and be creative. I have taken several writing courses at a variety of colleges: Arizona State University, University of Aukland, and Brooks Institute. Each school had a different approach. For example, in New Zealand, all the tests were 3-4 hours long and had to be completely hand written. I've written cover letters, resumes, contracts, estimates, stories, persuasive speeches, poems, etc. I write professional emails daily to my clients.
Nutrition Tutoring
Nutrition is my passion! I love to incorporate this with food photography. I have read many articles and books about nutrition, fitness, and wellness. I practice a healthy lifestyle by cooking/preparing healthy meals and learning how the body digests and stores food. Everyones body is different, which is why there are a variety of diets out there such as the Ketogenic diet, Paleo diet, and dieting based off your blood type. I take probiotics naturally through kombucha and refrain from added sugars. Nutrition is vital to learn as it can prevent frequent Dr. visits and cure acne, depression, and fatigue. Learning what foods to avoid is also crucial as your body may be intolerant to them.
French Tutoring
J'ai étudié le français pendant 2 ans au lycée et pris un semestre à l'université. Je parle occasionnellement avec mon frère en français et je peux le comprendre à un niveau intermédiaire.
I have studied French for 2 years in high school and then took an intermediate level in college. I occasionally speak French with my brother and understand French at an intermediate level.
Science Tutoring
Science is the fundamental understanding of the universe. I have taken college level courses with hands on lab experiments. I find it interesting because it unfolds the answers to our questions. I have taken Earth Science, Biology, and Physical Science.
Adobe Lightroom Tutoring
I learned how to use Adobe Lightroom at Brooks Institute. It was a requirement because it organizes all your files and is great for event photography.
You can organize your images through key words and folders. Lightroom is not for storing you physical files; it is for file management and making basic adjustments such as color correcting. You can copy these adjustments and sync them across all your images at once which is why its perfect for events. I have used Lightroom for a year when I was a studio manger for a fashion wedding photographer. I am patient and know this program very well.
Macintosh Tutoring
I have used Mac computers for 20 years and feel confident in its functionality and programs. I recently reformatted my 2017 MacBook Pro to make sure it was virus free and to give it more memory space. I backed up important documents, images, and music onto an external hard drive and reinstalled the latest software. I am very familiar with the cloud and feel I could work at the Apple store from researching and talking to many Apple experts. As a photographer, I have to stay organized and make sure my computer is up to speed, calibrated, and has plenty of storage space. A computer should mainly be used for browsing the internet and running softwares, not storing files. This will allow the RAM to run efficiently (multitask) and softwares, such a Photoshop, to be able to perform at its full potential.
Microsoft Word Tutoring
I use Microsoft Word and Google Docs on a daily basis. I have created templates for resumes and cover letters and feel confident in teaching the functionality of the program. MS word is vital to learn as it can speed up the workflow of assignments especially if you know where all the tools are and the shortcut commands. I know how to create my own fonts and how to use the margins appropriately. Creating links and knowing how to remove or add spacing is important when writing professional letters.
