It's not hard to see that I LOVE the ocean. I am always talking about it and anytime I get a chance, I will be down at the beach.
About Me
I have a BS in Biology with emphasis on Marine Biology. I am a very thorough person and bring a strong work ethic to everything that I do. I also have an eye for detail and consistency. My goal is to use my BS and work in a job that compliments my passion for marine conservation.
Experience
The last 20 years I have volunteered for the rescue group Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN) serving as Volunteer Coordinator of the Corpus Christi Region for the last 14 years. From 2012 to Aug 2017 I was Project Manager for the GoMexSI project through the Center for Coastal Studies. For the last 5 years I have been a Swimming Instructor at AscubaVenture teaching children from 6 months through adulthood. All have taught me time management, attention to detail and teaching skills.
Approach
My previous work positions have taught me that everyone is different and everyone has a different learning style. I have learned to adapt my teaching skills to suit not only the person but their ability/disability. I myself am slightly dyslexic and have had to teach myself how to cope. I can be firm and strict as to the material but I also know how to have fun and how to recognize when students need a break.

Biology I Tutoring
Biology has always been a passion of mine. I was a solid student. Outside of college, my work with the GoMexSI project has strengthened my skills and knowledge through its many aspects. My work with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network has increased my knowledge dramatically.

For the first 1/2 of my college career, I double majored in marine biology and environmental science. I was a solid student. Outside of college, my work with the GoMexSI project has strengthened my skills and knowledge through its many aspects.
Study Skills Tutoring
Being mildly dyslexic myself, I have had to learn how to study so that I read and processed content correctly. This has taught me to do things with an attention to detail. I know that cramming usually work and that you have to study a little bit at a time in order to retain the information.
Algebra Tutoring
I am very good in math subjects. I actually skipped a grade of math in grade school and as such was able to get through Calculus by my senior year of high school. I love math and numbers and believe in instructing "old school" or how to do math without calculators.

My passion has always been biology and put maximum effort into these classes. As such I excelled in this subject area. I love to learn about this area and I myself am always asking questions to learn more.

Microsoft Excel Tutoring
Project Manager and Database Admin for the GoMexSI Project. GoMexSI is a data entry project taking archived literature and extracting/standardizing the needed information into Excel spreadsheets.
Microsoft Word Tutoring
Project Manager and Database Admin for the GoMexSI Project. One aspect of the project was to use Word to keep lists of deadlines, assisting in parts of grant writing and creating flyers for public events. I also created a training binder to inform new interns.
