About Me
I am an upper division student at San Jose State University pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Communications. I graduated from Modesto Junior College in Spring 2013 with a 3.88 GPA overall, and a 4.0 GPA in my major. I am a lite time member of the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa and served as secretary for the organization. I recently took a Writing Skills Test, of which I received such a high score that I qualified for a waiver for the class. I also received the academic honor of being on the Dean's list.
I have volunteered to work with my middle school cousin on his pre-algebra homework, which enabled him to improve his grade all the way to a B. I have also volunteered to work with colleagues around campus to help them improve their essays. I recently helped a friend improve her Critical Analysis Essay, and she subsequently received an A. Although I have not performed formal tutoring that required payment, I have volunteer a lot of my time helping others succeed. I am the go-to girl for homework help because I truly care about others' success.
As a passionate honors student, I love to inspire a love for learning! I am genuinely passionate about attaining an education and growing to one's fullest potential, and this reflects in the way I teach. As a communications major, I have learned not only to talk, but how to listen to others. I listen to what my student needs and adjust based on their needs. Some children need more direction, some need to do more themselves, and some require a balance, and I use my skills as a communications major to perceive and adapt to the needs of my student to give them the best possible chance of success.
