Fun Facts
Some fun facts about me are as follows. I often get confused for being a student instead of a teacher because of my height. I grew up In New Jersey and have been told I have a “jersey accent”. My favorite food is Taylor ham (a New Jersey speciality). I have a bullmastiff and she weighs as much as I do! In my free time I train as a Kickboxer! I went to Penn State and will always cheer on my Nittany Lions!
About Me
Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher becuase of one special person in my life, my fourth grade teacher. She was so kind and was able to inspire me in a way no one else has. After many years of hard work and dedication I was able to fulfill that dream and am now a sixth grade teacher. Now my dream is to inspire students of all ages to love education as much as my fourth grade teacher did to me.
Experience
Through college I was able to have experience working with preschool students, and spent a year student teaching a 4th grade class. I currently am a 6th grade teacher. I also have experience with level 1 ESL students as well as students with learning disabilities. Throughout high school, I tutored many students through the national honors society.
Approach
I like to make learning as fun and hands on as possible. I believe in building a strong foundation through the use of manipulatives and visuals. In my classroom we are always moving around, singing the key points of the lesson, and dancing to help keep our bodies and minds engaged and move information from our short term to our long term memory.

Early childhood education
Algebra Tutoring
I am qualified to teach algebra becuase it is currently being taught in sixth grade, the grade I teach. Also, in most schools, sixth grade is in middle school, but I teach it in an elementary school.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I am qualified to teach this because I am currently teaching sixth and seventh grade math. I teach seventh grade math to 10 advanced students.
English Tutoring
I currently teach all subjects in 6thgrade. I have taken professional development classes to focus on developing reading comprehension in kindergarten-sixth grade students.
ESL Tutoring
I currently have 7 ESL students in my class, 4 of which are level one. Becuase of this I have become interested in the best practices to help these students be as successful as possible and am currently completing my ESL certification course.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I am able to help with homework since I am familiar with the curriculum in Virginia.
Math Tutoring
Math is my favorite subject. Growing up it was very difficult for me until I was matched with the perfect tutor. My tutor taught me through the use of manipulatives and visuals, which helped me succeed. I currently teach 6th grade math.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I completed two elementary math courses in college and received A’s in both. I currently teach 6th grade math and am familiar with the curriculum for several different grade levels.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I currently teach reading and focus on comprehension skills in elementary aged students. I have also taken several professional development courses to stay up to date with the latest techniques.
Science Tutoring
I currently teach sixth grade science and have taken professional development classes to build understanding in elementary science. I also received and A in my college science class.
Social Studies Tutoring
I currently teach sixth grade social studies and am familiar with the elentary school curriculum. I also rejected an A in my college social studies class.
Study Skills Tutoring
I am able to be a tutor in this subject becuase I am familiar with Virginia standards and know what is assessed on the tests, so I am able to help students hone in on important information while helping them find a strategy that works for them.
Writing Tutoring
I am able to tutor this becuase I currently teach it. I have also taken several professional development classes in order to learn the best practices to help the students be as successful as possible.
