I love listening to music, reading and hanging out with my nieces! During my free time you will see me with my headphones in, my Kindle or book in my hand and three little girls on my heels.

About Me

I am very passionate about education and children. I love the look in a child's eye when he/she understands a concept that seemed so difficult. I believe that all children are capable of learning!

I have tutored college students enrolled in math and physics courses during my studies atTexas Southern University. Through the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation scholarship program, I had the opportunity to serve as a mentor for incoming freshmen and returning students. I also served as a student representative for the physics department at various events held by the College of Science and Technology.

Outside of the university, I tutored a middle school student in math. We met twice a week for several months at a local library. We spent five to ten minutes discussing interesting things that may have happened before beginning our sessions. When she remained focused and completed her assignments correctly, I rewarded her with little surprises at our next meeting.

When working with students, I try to relate the problem or concept to real life. I like to use visual aides and things that are of interest to the student. I also like to have the students write on a dry erase board and explain their process to me when solving a problem. Using this method allows me to understand the student and serve him/her better.
