Fun Facts

I love reading and rarely enjoy a film adaptation as well as the print version. My favorite season is Summer and spend as much time as possible in the pool. My dream job would be to act in "dramatic re-enactments" for true crime series such as the type on the Investigative Discovery channel. I can't stay away from school! I will be going back this Summer to finish an education degree. After I finish I would love to shadow a carpenter and learn how to build and create furniture.

About Me

Because of my love for learning I have had several careers. Education, art, fitness, sales, nursing. Recently I worked in finance for a major 5.5 billion dollar corporation. I learned a lot, enjoyed the job and coworkers, but I don't have a passion for finance. I am returning to my first love - education. My goal is to be a highly dedicated teacher who inspires children and fosters in them a lifelong love for acquiring and sharing knowledge.

Experience

I have taught and tutored ESL to teens from across Eastern Europe during a Summer in Poland. I volunteered my time after school to tutor reading skills to students at Hubbard Elementary School while employed with Columbus City Schools. In nursing school I was selected for preparing my study group in the areas of Anatomy/Physiology, Pediatrics, Psychology, and English. I provide 1st grade and 4th grade gifted and talented homework help and tutoring on a daily basis for my granddaughters.

Approach

As a tutor I work to adapt lessons to cater to each learning style - auditory, visual, and kinesthetic/tactile, giving each student every opportunity to absorb the knowledge being taught. Although academically successful I often felt insecure that I required more time to read assignments and that I couldn't power-through projects like other students. Writing essays and calculating problems for hours on end was not possible. Thorough study plans with frequent breaks were essential for my success.
