Fun Facts
After growing up in small town in New Jersey, moving to the city has been the experience of a life time! I enjoy adventure and mystery, but I also like to sit down with a book or my crocheting hook and yarn. My favorite way to spend my free time is baking cookies.
About Me
I am a first-year student at New York University. I am working on a major in Neural Science, with a minor in Spanish. My ultimate goal is to attend Medical School and specialize in Neuro-opthalmology, eventually becoming a Medical Doctor.
Since my junior year of high school, I knew that I loved helping others learn. I began volunteering at my town's middle school weekly. I assisted with the sixth grade's homework club for two years, giving students individualized attention. Since beginning college, I have begun manhattan">tutoring for ACE, Empowering the Homeless. I help weekly with their basic math class, which includes a variety of students with different learning capabilities and backgrounds. manhattan">Tutoring some of these adults is challenging, as they struggle with even basic concepts. FrogTutoring is a great way for me to continue helping children to learn.
I have had my fair share of difficult teachers - ones who taught in ways that I could not learn. I have also had several great teachers. These are the ones who do not hand out A's, but instead teach students how to attain high marks on their own. They give the tools, and each student can work with them in the way that best suits him or her. I believe in this approach, where each student, with help and guidance, must explore for him- or herself. I will walk each student through sample problems, then allow him or her to try some on his or her own.
