Fun Facts
In high school and college I played the percussions instruments: In high school I played the snare drum in the marching band. I played a variety of percussion instruments in my college concert band college. However I longed to play the organ. Three years ago I was given an organ and stack of organ music. Using the internet, the inherited stash of music and diligent practice I taught myself to play the organ. I love playing gospel songs on my organ.
About Me
I am a retired professor of mathematics. Upon retiring I undertook woodworking as a hobby. I concentrated on building fine furniture. I have built headboards, an entertainment center, wainscoting for my bathroom remodeling, and sofa tables. Woodworking provides expression of my artistic self.
Experience
I have 30 years teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses. I have taught at Xavier University of Louisiana (5 years) and California State University Sacramento (25 years). While at California State I taught statistics on TV, designed and directed a series of recruiting lectures to invite local high schools to visit the mathematics department, and developed the School of Arts and Sciences' Step to College Program – an outreach program to attract minority students to matriculate.
Approach
Throughout my career my one desire was to connect withy students. Many are distinguished in a variety of careers. It is gratifying to receive a communication for some reporting what they are doing and detailing many of the methods i used on them as foundation pieces for their successes.
