I play guitar and sing, but maybe it'd be better to say I TRY to play guitar and sing. I like writing poems, short stories and love reading. I'm not afraid to be silly and encourage a positive attitude, but I'm also very goal oriented and know when to be serious.

About Me

I'm on my last year at Cal State LA, after which I hope to go into teaching. I will be teaching English though I'm not sure for what grade. I've worked with both elementary and middle school students so once I try high school I'll be able to better make my decision. Either way I get great satisfaction from seeing students learn and want to learn.

I worked for an after school program called ICES Education where a large part of the time was spent helping the students with their homework as well as helping them with enrichment tasks we'd assign them ourselves. I also have a younger sister who I help with homework and whom I have a great relationship with.

My approach would be to encourage the student unconditionally while at the same time not making the student feel pressured. I try to keep direction at a minimum and try to intervene only when necessary. However, I make it clear that the student can ask me any questions and will receive my help if he does so. My goal is to be sure the student understands the material and feels comfortable with it.
