About Me
I understand how it feels to not be able to grasp a concept even when you are truly trying your hardest. My goal is to not only guide people to better comprehension and higher academic results, but to also help them rise above the feelings of shame or insecurity that come with not understanding something. Because of my own personal experiences, I have acquired the ability to break down problems in different ways because I know that every single person perceives and processes things in different ways, and I understand the importance of finding a way that's right for you.
I am the oldest child of four, and so my chicago">tutoring experiences really started when I was as young as fifth grade, helping my younger brother and my sisters through their spelling and flashcards. I also participated in a volunteer program at my high school that involved chicago">tutoring my peers in English or general studying skills for extra credit. I've worked with a variety of people at a variety of levels. I was invited to chicago">tutor fellow college students in English and Writing and Rhetoric last semester through my college, but due to scheduling conflicts was not able to take the opportunity. Now, I have a much more flexible schedule and am looking forward to working with Frog chicago">Tutoring and clients!
My philosophy is fluid, and specific to each person I meet, but one thing that remains constant is that I want clients to feel comfortable before we start working. I personally feel that one learns best when all factors of anxiety or stress have been removed from a situation. Once the actual chicago">tutoring begins, I will not do the client's work for them, but I will do my best to help them understand the work so they can do it on their own--as the saying goes: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
