About Me
I am a currently a student at Tarrant County College. I hope to transfer to a 4 year university for nursing. My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I have a passion for science and people, so I am excited about being able to work in a setting where I can pursue both those things.
Experience
I have been working with children since I was 17. I started off with babysitting jobs and then moved toward licensed facilities. I worked for Fort Worth after school for a little over 2 years. I have also done summers with Destination Science Summer Camp. I live for the moment where I can see the "Oh, I get it now!" in a child's eyes.
Approach
"Slow and steady wins the race" has always been my approach. I feel like a lot of students don't understand material the first time around due to the quick pace most school classrooms have to go by, and that's okay! My job would be to expand the material into simple steps as much as possible in order to make understanding it a lot easier. After that would be just: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Biology Tutoring
Biology: the study of life. This is a difficult subject, and a subject that most students dread. For any science related subject, I like to break it down to a simple form and then go from there. Science has the potential to be lot's of fun and I like to make sure students see that.
English Tutoring
English is so important to have a strong foundation in. I always like to help students understand all the fundamentals that go into the subject and why it is important to utilize these skills.
Homework Coach Tutoring
In after school programs, I did a lot of work as a general homework helper. I can help with a large array of subjects and go into as much or little depth as needed.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
This has always been a tricky subject for a lot of students. What is the author trying to say? We are not mind readers, so how can we know? I like to teach students skills that will carry them throughout their education when it comes to reading comprehension. I teach them how to break a piece of writing down to it's smallest form before attempting to decipher it.
Science Tutoring
Science is my absolute favorite subject, not just to tutor but to learn. I feel that if it is taught the right way, most students would be as enamored with it as I am. I taught science at a summer science camp and I learned many ways to make this an enjoyable experience.
Writing Tutoring
Writing was always a favorite subject of mine. Many students struggle because of all the structure that is required for writing but I like to show students how fun writing can be. I like to begin with the fundamentals, and then tailor sessions based on what I see they are struggling with.
ESL Tutoring
I have worked in many schools where ESL tutors are scarce. English is my second language so I do know how frustrating it can be to not understand something, but it can be done.

Math is a subject most students struggle with, not just in elementary school but throughout their education. I try to simplify the concepts as much as possible. Usually the struggle is due to lack of understanding the fundamentals, so I always try to find the root of their confusion.
