Fun Facts

I love to sing, dance, joke, play games, cook (and eat), laugh, and play basketball and ultimate frisbee. I think all of the things I listed are wonderful, but I will boast about the excellence that is the game of Ultimate Frisbee. Not only is it a team sport and therefore collaborative, but it also encourages the best sportsmanship of any game around! Ask me about why!

About Me

I went to hamilton-college">Hamilton College and majored in Foreign Languages: French and Spanish. I had an overall GPA of 3.55 and a major GPA of 3.67. I made dean's list 4 out of 7 semesters in college and I was elected into Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language society. I plan to do a post-bad and go to medical school in the coming years, and am excited to be a manhattan">tutor!

In high school, I tutored two middle school students in French and was able to drastically improve their performance in and passion for the language! In college, I was a Spanish teaching assistant, for which I met with a class of students once or twice a week to help them with the concepts they were taught in their language courses. I also volunteered at the Clinton Elementary School, where I taught first grade students various Spanish vocabulary words and about hispanic culture. I fully enjoyed all of my teaching experiences and am excited to continue along the manhattan">tutoring path!

I believe that students feel most excited about learning when they can see the application of their new knowledge. So, I plan to make the material come alive by using real world examples present in a student's everyday life. In addition, seeing as I was not always a perfect student, I know that sometimes it takes learning material in a new/different way to really absorb it fully. So, I plan to evaluate the student's learning style, and present the material in the way that he or she best responds to new information. Learning can be fun and empowering and I look forward to watching students discover that, while simultaneously gaining confidence in their abilities.
