Fun Facts

People immediately recognize that I am a huge tennis fan! Whenever I am free, I love to play on the court with my friends or watch tournaments. I love exploring nature; I used to do a lot of hiking when I was home, and I hope to continue to explore trails in Houston. I have taken Spanish classes for the past five years, and I hope to become fluent someday.

About Me

i am a freshman at Rice University studying psychology, and I am an aspiring physician. I am very interested in exploring music therapy, and how music can be used as a nonpharmacological intervention to help against addiction and substance abuse, especially opioids. I will be doing research in a neurological lab at Houston Methodist Hospital on the effects of music on ALS. I believe that teaching is an important skill for me to develop and an effective way to give back to my community!

Experience

I have been a singer for the past 15 years, having trained in Indian classical carnatic music, Western classical music, and choral contemporary music. Two years ago, I sang at Carnegie Hall. I have participated in regional, state, and national honor choirs throughout high school, having performed at the Grand Ole Opry twice. I was the recipient of the National School Choral Award for four years during high school. I also played piano for 7 years, having finished the Certificate of Merit exams.

Approach

My approach is student-centered; I am flexible in accommodating students' goals and aspirations, but I am also steadfast and consistent in terms of study strategies and study habits. I believe that self-motivation and diligence are very important skills, and my goal is to pass them onto my students. Through encouragement and providing students the tools to expand their horizons, I hope to inspire students to pursue their intellectual passions throughout their life.
