Fun Facts
I grew up in Oregon and came to Texas for college without ever visiting the state! I am fluent in Korean and spent a summer in Korea studying abroad. I was blessed enough to learn the piano starting from a young age and picked up the flute in high school. Although my college major does not reflect it, I came to college on an art scholarship thanks to my wonderful high school ceramics teacher.
About Me
I am a junior Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major at Trinity University. I have a 3.7 GPA. My time outside of classes is spent working in a biochemistry lab or leading a Bible study with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Following graduation, I hope to take a gap year and then head to medical school.
Experience
Being the older sister of two younger siblings, I have informally spent the majority of my life as a sort of tutor! In high school a few of my teachers connected me with younger students, so I spent some of my time working as a flue teacher and a math tutor. In college, I immediately started volunteering as a tutor for underprivileged elementary school students. All these experiences have reinforced my love for helping people with the skills that I have been gifted with.
Approach
I believe that learning is about expanding your skillset in order to apply that knowledge to new situations. It is important to teach critical thinking skills to younger students in order that they may learn the importance of knowledge from an early age. Tutoring is valuable because it provides an opportunity that schools cannot. By learning from a teacher in an individualized session, students are given the opportunity to be taught in the way that they best learn.
