Fun Facts
I lived on an Island, in the Caribbean, for most of my life, but I hate the ocean and all bodies of water. I hate pancakes, but love waffles, which is weird as they are make of the same ingredients. Also, I don't have a favorite anything; I love a lot of things and just can't choose between them.
About Me
I attend St. Francis College. I'm a senior majoring in chemistry with a concentration in math. I've been on the dean's list and I'm also the secretary of the Christian club. I work at my school as a lab assistant in the biology and chemistry labs. I also work with on of my professors as a research assistant.I plan to obtain a masters in math education.
I have been brooklyn">tutoring my siblings since I have been in high school, which is for the past nine years. I have helped them with trigonometry, algebra, calculus, math-elementary/new-york/brooklyn">elementary math, geometry, college physics and chemistry. I have also tutored my friends in college physics. Last September, I got a job as a private brooklyn">tutor for two high school girls. I have been brooklyn">tutoring them in physics and AP calculus. I prepare lesson plans for my students and keep their parents abreast of their progress.
My approach to brooklyn">tutoring is to first assess the student’s weakness. I accomplish this by giving them a few practice problems based on the topics they have covered in class. Once I have identified their weak areas, I focus on them. I try to make my brooklyn">tutoring session interactive. For example, when brooklyn">tutoring physics I use props to demonstrate the different concepts. I let my students think for themselves. Instead of telling them what’s the right way of doing something, I ask them questions, which causes them to think through the concepts and arrive at the answers themselves.
