Fun Facts
One passion people quickly learn about me is that I LOVE basketball! I have been playing basketball for 14 years now. Because basketball has taken up so much of my time since age 8, I was unable to participate in other sports but I must say I enjoy watching and discussing all sports. I enjoy dancing nearly just as much as basketball but I must admit that I am 100% more skilled on the court than I am on the dance floor.
About Me
I am a junior Secondary English Education major at Olivet Nazarene University, currently taking a semester off. I have been on the Dean's List my last two semesters at Olivet. I have also been a scholar-athlete for my years of college through basketball. My ultimate goal is to become a Middle-School or High School English teacher.
Experience
I have always had a passion for teaching so since early high school, I have taken every opportunity I can to help those around me in various academic areas. Because I am an English education major, I had the opportunity to work one-on-one with students through my practicum experience. Thankfully my cooperating teachers allowed me to be active within their classrooms. Working for Frog Tutoring gives me the opportunity to impact more lives of students before I have a classroom of my own.
Approach
Since early in grade school, I have ALWAYS admired my teachers. I began evaluating my teachers' styles and deciding which methods I would use if I were to have a classroom someday. One of the most valuable concepts I have learned through my practicum experience is differentiated instruction. I realize that students have different learning styles so I plan to utilize differentiation with my students I tutor.

Secondary English Education
College Algebra Tutoring
I received A's in my Algebra courses. I have taken higher level math and performed well in those courses as well. I have tutored others in college level algebra and students showed significant growth over time.
Writing Tutoring
In college, I have taken three writing courses and I have performed well in all three. My professors would pair me with struggling writers so that I could give them guidance. I learned a lot through my Advanced writing course that will help me guide students. Many people, including other adults, request me to review their writing after completion.
Algebra Tutoring
High school algebra is one of my strengths. I received an A in both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I frequently assisted my peers in the subject area. At times, my teacher struggled getting my classmates to understand a concept so she would allow me to attempt to explain the concept to them. Although I am an English major, Algebra is definitely a passion of mine.
English Tutoring
In college, I have taken numerous English courses since I am an English education major. In high school, I took AP English and performed well. I am pursuing a degree as an English teacher so tutoring English is perfect for me.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
High school algebra is one of my strengths and pre-algebra is just a step below that. I received an A in both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I frequently assisted my peers in the subject area. Following freshman year, I took Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and then Business Finance my senior year. I received an A in Algebra 1 and 2 so middle school math would be easy for me to provide assistance. I have tutored middle school math in the past.
Spanish Tutoring
I have taken a total of eight years of Spanish. I began taking Spanish in the 6th grade through my charter school and I continued through high school as well as college. I received an A in all of my Spanish courses.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have formulated study skills that all students can utilize. I believe there are some key principles to keep in mind when studying and I have learned those through experience. I have coached students and peers on these methods, which produce successful results.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Considering that I am an English Education major, reading comprehension is one of my skills. Early on in grade school I struggled in reading comprehension but I was assisted by various teachers so I am very familiar with how to assist students who struggle comprehending as well. In all my English courses in college, I have received predominantly A's.
Macintosh Tutoring
I have had a Macintosh computer for five years now so I am very familiar with how to utilize all applications effectively. There has been several times when my professors have posed questions concerning Macintosh and I have been able to provide them with assistance.
