Fun Facts
I am an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy caving, rock climbing, hiking, camping, white water rafting, and most anything outdoors. I have had the opportunity to do several cave digs in which we looked for new cave passage and fossils. I am recent to Colorado, but love the opportunities here for adventure.
About Me
I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and a minor in East Asian Language and Literature. I did nicotine and alcohol addiction research after graduation. I also worked as a rehab tech and as a Care Manager in an assisted living community. I was accepted into the University of Vermont College of Medicine. I am interested in Pediatrics and Family medicine. I have had immense help in making it this far, and I wish to help others to succeed in their goals.
I have had mentor/ denver">tutor experience volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters. I helped a young girl from first through fifth grade and continue to stay in contact as a mentor. We worked on math, arts, reading-comprehension/colorado/denver">reading comprehension and general homework skills. I was also more importantly a mentor and friend to her and worked on building her confidence and skills to tackle future assignments. She received the student of the month award in fifth grade and continues to be an honors student. I also worked previously as a swim instructor for the YMCA. I taught lessons to kids of all ages and made daily lesson plans and progress reports.
My denver">tutoring style is to try to communicate with teachers, parents and students about areas of difficulty and strengths, and to develop a plan to work on the weaknesses while encouraging the strengths. I try to make learning fun and to adapt to the needs of the individual. My goal is to try to instill confidence in my students so they will be able to approach future challenges without fear.
