Fun Facts
I enjoy practicing mindfulness and yoga. It’s part of my personal growth practice. It’s important for me to stay present to the world around me, and the practice of yoga and mindfulness helps me keep the circuits of compassion, for myself and others, alive.
About Me
Over the course of my 12-year career in education, my teaching skills developed and evolved in an embryological fashion. My teaching philosophy has always been based on the idea that if something is preventing a child from learning, it’s never the child’s failure. It is rather a message to the teacher to create new ways of presenting the information. My teaching repertoire expanded and transformed to adapt and embrace new students and new environments.
Experience
I have of 12 years experience teaching English, math, writing, ESL , French and psychology classes.
I practice the following strategies and tools that I've learned and developed over the years: Inquiry-Based Instruction, Teaching with Love and Logic, Mindful teaching, Student-Centered Learning, Understanding by Design, Orton Gillngham multi-sensory reading instruction, and Wilson reading program.
Approach
I believe that a child needs to be educated holistically, and be provided with empathic understanding and tools to build intrinsic motivation for learning. Teachers are not just conduits of information but rather facilitators of learning. By utilizing diverse approaches that appeal to an array of learning styles and by asking probing, thought provoking questions, teachers instill deeper understanding and connections to what is being taught.
