Fun Facts
When I am not at church or school I am either watching the show Forensic Files or Riverdale. I tend to enjoy crime shows because they are interesting and engaging! Nonetheless, I enjoy swimming at the beach with my family (our favorite beach is Pismo Beach,) or hiking the Yosemite Falls with my folks! Also, I have traveled to Guatemala and Mexico with my youth group. In the end, I enjoy traveling because it gives me a sense of happiness and serenity.
About Me
I am a senior Criminology major at fresno">California State University Fresno. I am also pursuing certification in Alcohol and Drug Studies and in Serving at Risk Youth. In addition, my cumulative GPA is a 3.8 and my major GPA is a 4.0. I have been on the both the Dean's List and President's list several times. Likewise, I am a member of the criminology honor's society Alpha Phi Sigma. Nonetheless, my ultimate goal is to become a Youth Corrections Counselor.
Experience
As a member of Iglesia de Jesucristo, I have had the opportunity to teach kids about Jesus and the Bible. Being a Sunday School teacher has equipped me with the ability to patient with young children. In addition, during my senior year of high school I was a teacher's aide for a education/california/fresno">special education teacher. Likewise, interacting with special needs students taught me different teaching approaches. In the end, working for Frog Tutoring will give me the opportunity to further my tutoring skills!
Approach
Personally, I have never really struggled with school but I have assisted struggling students all my life. My teachers always wanted me to assist other students which taught me how to tutor students. Thankfully, my teachers were some of the most caring teachers ever, thus their teaching skills have resinated with me. As a tutor, I intend to create a positive environment for the student. Lastly, I intend to not "spoon feed" a student the answers but to challenge the student in every way possible.

Criminology
Criminal Justice Tutoring
As a criminology major, I am very familiar with criminology courses. So far I have taken the following criminology classes: Criminal Law, Criminology Theory, Family Violence, Institutional Corrections, Introduction to Criminology, and Victimology. In the end, I have scored an A in each and every one of these classes.
English Tutoring
English has always been my favorite subject and I tend to excel in English courses. Every undergraduate student is required to take an English course. Nonetheless, I received an "A" for the coursework I completed in my English class.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Reading Comprehension is something one is taught in either an English course or a Writing course. In my English course and Writing course we were required to read several readings and write essays about the readings. Therefore, one could not receive a high score on one's essay if one did not have good reading skills. In the end, I scored an A in both of these courses.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have acquired several good study skills along the way of my college career. In order to maintain my 3.8 cumulative GPA and my 4.0 major GPA, I have to study very hard. In the end, I have good organizational skills and study skills that I can definitely pass down to a student in need.
Writing Tutoring
Every student is required to take at least one writing course at California University State Fresno, on the other hand, Criminology majors tend to write more than the average college student. Criminology classes emphasize good writing skills because the Criminal Justice field requires a lot of writing. For example, police officers not only write police reports but they also request search warrants to a judge. Nonetheless, in all my criminology courses I have received a A. In the end, these courses have helped me as a writer.
Government Tutoring
During my senior year at Hoover High School I took AP Government. In addition, I received in A for both semesters and even passed the AP Government Exam! Therefore, I received a 3-unit credit at California State University Fresno.
History Tutoring
In high school I received an A in my World History and United States History class. In addition, I was very lucky to have had a passionate History teacher that pushed us out of our comfort zone. Lastly, as a Criminology major I have learned about the history of policing in America.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I was a valedictorian at Herbert Hoover High School. In addition, I received the AMAE Scholarship which is a scholarship granted to gifted Mexican American students. Also, I received the Fresno Unified School District Scholarship. Moreover, I received the Seal of Biliteracy and was awarded a Language Arts Plaque and Foreign Language Arts Plaque. In the end, as a 4.13 GPA student I developed great homework and study skills that I can pass down to other students.
Spanish I Tutoring
In high school I took Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III, and AP Spanish. I received a A as my final grade for each of these classes. In addition, I passed the AP Spanish Exam with a 5, thus I did not have to take Spanish at California State University Fresno. Lastly, during my senior year of High School I received the Seal of Biliteracy which signifies that I can fluently read, speak, and write in both English and Spanish.

As a student of the College of Social Sciences at California State University Fresno, I have been equipped with a lot of knowledge in the area. Social Studies requires a broad understanding of History and Sociology. Luckily, as a criminology major I have been exposed to certain topics in my criminology courses.
