Fun Facts
I am new to the Denver area as I just moved here for graduate school. When I am not at school or work you can normally find me playing basketball or doing some sort of outdoor sports activity.
About Me
I am current graduate student Denver University in the Research Methods and Statistics program. I moved from South Dakota after completing my undergraduate degree in Secondary Math Education and Computer Education at Dakota State University. Also before I moved out to pursue my masters I completed a year of volunteer service with Americorps.
Experience
To go along with my coursework in statistics and advanced math throughout my graduate and undergraduate courses I was a tutor for 4 years at Dakota State University. Both as part of the library tutoring services and the Math Success Center. As part of the library tutoring services, I would tutor students in a variety of math and computer subjects on a walk-in basis. For the math success center, I acted as a Teacher's Assistant in the intermediate algebra and intro to algebra courses.
Approach
I am a certified teacher for math from grades 7-12. I chose an education method because as a child I always found myself helping out my students. I find it much more enjoying being able to help a student learn a difficult concept than when I am able to master it. I have a natural ability to take complex ideas and breaking them down into more understandable terms.
