Fun Facts
I have done gymnastics for 14 years and have also coached for my team. Once I retired, I picked up "aggressive rollerblading" and I hope to be sponsored one day. Since gymnastics took up almost all of my time, I'm finding new and unique things to do such as the latter, synchronized swimming, more hiking, etc. I've always loved doing art, in which nature inspires me. Caring for the environment is a goal I strive to do all my life.
About Me
I am a Sophomore at MSU Denver, after switching from CSU. I have changed my major 3 times already in the first year (biology to HDFS to Education), but I have finally decided my calling is to help others learn. I decided to minor in Statistics because I enjoy AP in high school, and I believe having a back up plan (or hobby) is a strong way to go. I will graduate from MSU with a Bachelors degree in education, plus a teaching licensure k-12.
Experience
Ever since beginning coaching (after a 1.5 years), I found my passion for helping others. I decided to further my experience with this by Volunteering at Dunn Elementary school in Ft. Collins as a math/literacy tutor. During this summer, I will be taking up a nanny job as well. My classes throughout high school and college such as HDFS, psychology, biology and sociology helped to hone my knowledge on education further.
Approach
Everybody has trouble learning at some point in their life, some more than others. After my own struggles to gain knowledge from a teacher figure, I now realized that helping others learn is the best gift one can give a person. The new generations are the future, and we must help shape them and give people the tools to success. When I teach/assist others we both gain satisfaction from working through a problem logically, with a positive attitude and of course; passion.

Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
In high school, I received a high B in this class. The content was quickly paced as well, covering as much as any college course. Unfortunately there we no labs or dissesctions in this class, although there was high application on the tests with labeling, memorization, and drawing requirements.
AP English Tutoring
I took AP Lit and Comp as well as AP English which focused on rhetoric and parts of writing, while English focused on comprehension, vocab, and analysis. My scores were sufficient on the AP exams at the level of a 3. In class we performed timed writings, presentations, skits, peer reviews/revisions, research papers, rhetorical analyses, synthesis essays and all types of writing requiring honed writing skills.
AP Statistics Tutoring
Statistics was a class I enjoyed in high school due to the high level of application. Besides the typical lecture/home work in any math class, we also practiced many AP questions and performed our own surveys throughout the school for practice. I earned 3.00 in this class as well.
Arts Tutoring
In middle school I began art which I pursued further by taking Ceramics 1, 2, and sculpture as well as drawing 1, 2, and pre-AP arts. I received As in all of the above and had participated in the Air Force Academy Art show for 5 years. On the other hand, I also enjoyed tech theatre for the last year of high school as a volunteer for The Little Mermaid Musical.
Biology AP Tutoring
Like any AP course, biology reflected a college course with fast-paced lectures, dissections, labs, etc. We watched movies, often practiced AP test questions, took quizzes + tests - the typical high school AP class. I earned a B in this class because biology of the world is a subject I enjoy and understand.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
As I have previously mentioned, the AP English class I took was based heavily on reading comprehension of many many different literatures including classics such as Shakespeare, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and famous poets. The AP exam was almost entirely reading passages and questions based on understanding/composition of the reading.
Biology Tutoring
I have taken Biology or chemistry every year since sophomore year of high school including AP and college courses in all of which I acquired an A. Biology is concrete and fascinating, a subject that comes easily to me.
English Tutoring
I have taken English since freshman year of high school: 2 college preps and 2 AP classes plus Intermediate Composition in college. I received Bs in all of these, although it is my belief that writing/English is so fluid the difficulty on putting a label of expertise on your skills is quite complicated.
Math Tutoring
I have tutored for middle school/elementary math before, plus I took typical math classes in high school with sufficient grades (3.00), as well as college algebra courses. I understand how to teach others the building blocks of math skills that every person needs to further build upon down the road.
Homework Coach Tutoring
From my many years of experience, I can agree that home work can be difficult. After going to college, high levels of autonomy was required. With this additional experience I understand what is required of ones self to do homework: intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, positive mindsets, reward factors, and more importantly taking everything one step at a time. I enjoyed the reward of home work; I hope to spread it to others.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I tutored math at Dunn elementary school in 2018 for 5 months, where I employed creative, fun, and unique ways for kids to learn math concepts. At this age it is more about application to real life than solving problems like in high school; mainly the reason I love to teach this subject. I received As and Bs throughout college and high school math subjects.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I took Algebra 1, 2, and geometry in high school and passed all with high As and Bs. Math is math - there is only one answer, which is why it seems easy to me. All there is to it is understanding the rules and steps, then you may find the answer.
Social Studies Tutoring
History is simply a lineup of events that occur with others or in succession. With this idea in mind, I succeeded in history classes in high school such as Colorado History, American/European history, and Ancient history in college where I earned As in each. Large events and learning about culture is a large factor that must be incorporated at the younger ages until the brain is developed enough for detail.
English Tutoring
I have taken 2 AP courses in high school plus 2 other college prep courses and passed all except one with a B or better. In college I received a B in CO 150 (one of my favorite classes the first semester).
