During my leisure time, I knit, sew, make quilts, and read cozy mysteries. I love hot chocolate and blueberry tea.
About Me
I graduated from The chicago">University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, certification K-9. I was a member of the UIC Honors College and a Phi Theta Kappa full-tuition scholarship recipient. GPA 3.89/4.0, Magna Cum Laude. I have enjoyed a rewarding career teaching Pre-K - 8 while tutoring students in grades K-12. In the future, I hope to obtain a Masters in Teaching Mathematics.
Experience
As a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I began my tutoring career as a sophomore in high school. While attending college, I tutored remedial reading and math at a local community college. I also helped students obtain their GED. After graduating college, I began teaching a culturally diverse population which fanned into flame my passion for English Language Learners. Working for Frog Tutoring is an exciting opportunity to bring the gift of lifelong learning to many.
Approach
Years of tutoring experience has taught me that every situation is unique and therefore requires a thoughtful, individualized plan of action. First, I assess my student's subject knowledge, looking for gaps. Then I inquire about study skills, and discern learning styles. Next, I help my student create S.M.A.R.T. goals, which fuels motivation. Then it's time to do the hard work of attaining these goals. My students know they have a tutor who believes they can accomplish great things.
