Fun Facts
I was actually born on the East Coast in Rhode Island and moved here to California when I was about four years old. I've never really been outside the country except for Mexico and Canada when I was really young so I hope to be able to explore the world one day. As for hobbies, I really love going bowling! Though I'm not great, it's a great way to hang out with friends and socialize. I also love going to arcades and playing ticket games. Nothing beats the feeling than hitting the jackpot and get
About Me
I am currently a 5th year bioengineering major at UCLA. When I graduate, I hope to pursue professional school or become a teacher or professor one day. My goal in life is to be able to build a successful career and to be able to support and spend time with my family.
I have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience throughout my high school and college career. In high school, whenever one of my peers or friends needed help in school, I was always willing to lend a hand. This carried on into college as I joined various volunteer tutoring and mentoring programs at UCLA where I was able to tutor various middle school students and elementary school students. In addition, I joined Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society and volunteered my time tutoring my peers in college in various subjects, such as mathematics, chemistry, physics and more. Now I am working with Frog Tutoring and am exciting to tutor and mentor new students. I look forward to meeting and developing a strong bond with my students.
I strongly believe in teaching students how to think and analyze something than to simply memorize it. Though it is a cliché, I think the saying, "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime." really applies in school and your career afterwards. I like to emphasize the importance of problem solving and thinking critically because I believe that these are traits that are essential to doing well in school and in life. When I tutor, I tend to employ the Socratic method, where I do not directly give my students the answer, but help guide them to it using questions and enthusiasm. I hope to teach my students the study skills they need to succeed academically, and hope to endow the desire and curiosity to learn.
