Fun Facts

I really love any action sport! Surfing, longboarding, mountain biking, etc. are all physics in action. Why can you ride on the edge of cliff without falling off while mountain biking? Angular momentum, that's why!

About Me

I am in my final year of a physics degree at Texas State University. I have tutored physics and calculus for two years, and have participated in innovated learning techniques classes and studies. I have also taught a variety of physics labs, which have allowed me to come up with different and often wild ways of describe the physics of situations.

I have been tutoring college physics, both algebra and calculus based, for two years, and have learned a lot about what makes a good tutoring session. In addition, I have picked up quite a few tricks in calculus 1 and 2. I was not very good in math when I came to college, so I can definitely relate a "non-technical" perspective towards math.

In my opinion, the best way to help a student learn a subject is to find out what he/she already knows. Identifying a student's initial concepts can make a huge difference later, as everything is built on that original foundation. It is more profitable to spend an hour aiding a student to reason out an answer, rather than continuously spout out what I know, though some students respond to the latter quite well. My goal is to provide an atmosphere of learning, not a place where students will hear me talk.
