About Me
I currently attend Howard University in Washington, DC. I am Biology major with a Chemistry minor and I plan to attend medical school next year. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my undergraduate career and I have been on the Dean's list every year since I started college. I have won different awards during my undergraduate career for my success in courses such as Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. I currently serve as the President of the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Association.
I have had washington-dc">tutoring experience ever since my junior year of high school. There I was a member of the National Honor Society where we would washington-dc">tutor fellow students weekly. I have also participated in programs that focused on teaching middle school students who had difficulty in Math and Science classes during high school. During my undergraduate career, I primarily tutored other students in Biology, Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. I have helped students who were averaging a "D" in Organic Chemistry achieve "A"s and "B"s.
I find that with Math and Science courses, it is imperative to combine material overview and cooperative problem solving in order to best master difficult topics. My approach to washington-dc">tutoring is to guide my student's thinking when answering questions and help them understand "why" . I believe this can help them better understand and retain information. I encourage my students to ask lots of questions and to think through their solutions. I try to instill strong learning and studying skills with my students that they can use for the rest of their educational career.
