Fun Facts
I love everything to do with music. I am currently working on my own songs and compositions. I have many that I have already written, and I am currently working on setting up an EP. I also am a big fan of Irish Literature. My favorite literary works are those of James Joyce. I am also a board game collector and I dream of one day designing my own board game.
About Me
I am in my 5th year of study at the University of New Mexico. I started as a Music Education Major but I recently changed my major to English Studies with a minor in music. I plan on applying to teaching programs this December in hopes of getting my teaching license through a teaching program (ex. Teach for America).
Experience
I have been a summer teacher for three summers at Breakthrough Santa Fe, a site that is part of the Breakthrough Collaborative. I taught Reading for 7th and 8th grade as well as creating my own music focused electives. I have experience leading my own classroom of about 6 to 8 students and I have experience writing and creating my own lesson plans and activities. I love teaching and it would be amazing to tutor students during the year so I can continue working on my teaching skills.
Approach
I have always loved school. I loved studying and learning and I also worked to help my peers when I could. My great aunt was my first grade teacher and she has been the inspiration for me to pursue teaching. I hope to be at least half the teacher that she was.

English Tutoring

I have taken theory classes about literature as well and I have taken introductory English courses during my first semester in college. Before entering college, I took AP Literature and AP Composition and passed both tests. I have taught reading comprehension and writing in a classroom for three summers and I volunteer at a program during the school year to tutor students in English and Reading.

Study Skills Tutoring
I have taken many classes during my college career and I have also been a part of several college preparedness classes during high school that focused extensively on study skills and organization skills for any class. I have mentored students in organization and study skills as well. I work with both digital study skills (online notes, notes in Microsoft word, etc.) as well as with physical notes (note booking, Cornell Notes, binder organization, planner organization, etc.). I also know many helpful tricks and tips for studying and retaining what is in your notes.
