Fun Facts
Biology is probably one of the most fascinating subjects I have ever come across. It is a science that is both perfect, but constantly changing because it can and has to. My favorite part of Biology would be Ecology. I love learning how all the different biotic and abiotic things interact with one another. The ecosystems of the world are perfect. There is an "app" for everything that needs to happen. A predator catches its prey, and then a clean-up crew comes along to take care of the rest.
About Me
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Georgia State University. My main focus was in the animals sciences, but I also took courses in Molecular Cell Biology, Microbiology and all of the other cellular Biology classes. I have worked at Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and various veterinary clinics. I received a Master's in Science Education from Georgia State University and am currently a certified Science teacher. Please contact me if you need science tutoring.
Experience
I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology from Georgia State University with a minor in Chemistry. After that I worked at Georgia Aquarium, educating the general public about Ecology and Marine Biology. I also did work at Zoo Atlanta as an Intern in the Herpetology department. There I learned a wealth of information about reptiles and amphibians. I also taught students about Georgia's Ecoregions at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. I have experience in veterinary clinics as well.
Approach
The best approach to any science class is a hands on approach. I don't believe any students truly benefits that much from reading the dense information of a science from a book. The best way is to have them use their knowledge on the subject to think there way through a question with you as a guide. This way, the new information they lean will stick a lot better. The read or listen and regurgitate approach does not work.
Request Me NowBiology I Tutoring
I took Biology I during a summer semester and received a C in the class. While I know that is not a great grade when it comes to tutoring, it was a summer semester, which means during a regular semester it would have probably been a full letter grade higher.
Biology II Tutoring
I took Biology II during college and received a grade level of a B. This class is what started my passion for Biology. It was the first class that I really got a look into Ecology.
Environmental Science Tutoring
The Environmental Sciences are where I excelled. I took Ecology, Marine Biology, Animal Biology and Plant Biology. I got A's in all of them. I did an internship helping to teach an Animal Biology lab.
Microbiology Tutoring
I have taken Molecular Cell Biology, Microbiology, Microbial Ecology and Metabolism and Biochemistry. I got A's and B's in all of these courses.
